We must remain aware and ever cognizant of our assumptions about people. They directly affect the quality of leadership and guidance we provide.
We project our assumptions and biases upon the people we lead. If I believe that someone isn’t capable, I am not going to take the time and energy necessary to get them to the required level of capability.
Our assumptions become a self fulfilling prophecy with our people garnering no benefit for them.
We must believe the best for our people even if the current reality doesn’t match with our desire.
This is true courage.
To believe where is no evidence is the faith the people we lead deserve.
We won’t always be right about them but we must always DO right about them.
