Years ago, my auntie taught me a life principle when I was dissatisfied with my work situation. I was of the belief that my life would be better in another organization and she said 5 words that completely shifted my perspective…
PROSPER WHERE YOURE PLANTED.
When a seed is planted, the purpose of the seed dictates the growth, not the size of the pot. The size of the pot has very little bearing on the ultimate destiny of that seed. We can have all of the expectations we want for that plant based on the size of the pot we put it in, but if its territory is meant to be larger than your expectations, your expectations are irrelevant.
As the seed grows, all it focuses on is the resources that are available to it to facilitate carrying out its purpose. It doesn’t spend time or energy on what isn’t there, it fully utilizes everything available to it.
Ultimately, if the growth of the seed exceeds the size of the pot, the roots will begin to break through the pot, it may become lopsided because the growth is so great it can no longer be supported.
It will become very obvious to even casual observers that the pot is inadequate and it needs to be elevated to a bigger pot.
The seed doesn’t complain about the size of the pot, it allows its purpose to speak for it through the action of growth.
The seed never gets to choose the pot it winds up in but it can affect the environment in such a way that it can dictate the quality of the place it ultimately resides in.
